Practical Development

I've struggled for a while thinking about what to produce for the practical side of this breif. Juggling many ideas for the essay it took me a while to narrow down my subject area. Moving from studying album covers and their importance, over to the lasting influence of rave culture, I now have a much better idea of how I want to explore my topic in the visual sense. To begin this I thought it was best to just start experimenting visually. Judging by the research I have collected so far, the rave flyers of the early 90s where really stimulated by the use of digital technologies which was evident in the kind of artwork that was being produced for events. The concepts where often vague, surreal and future themed so I am attempting to emulate these attributes in the work I am making.

I like the images that I have come up with so far, however, I think that I need to push it a little bit further out of the box and try and incorporate something new. I was thinking it could potentially be a good idea to look into more advanced image editing softwares, potentially creating an animated style flyer or poster, or even using an program that allows 3D rendering in order to produce some more current editions that depict the fantasy ideals of those flyers from the scene.

Using this a grid and then distorting it using illustrator I have been able to create some really interesting, intriguing images that portray a similar feeling to those designs for the raves. As mentioned before, it would be good to try creating something a little bit more modern in terms of the technology used to create the image.
